What the Stars Are Wearing Home for the Holidays: See Dakota Fanning, Rachel McAdams and More!

Traveling in style seems to never go out of, well, style. And these celebs — Dakota Johnson, Rachel McAdams, Kesha, LeAnn Rimes, Zendaya and Dakota Fanning — who’ve been spotted jet-setting home for the holidays, are no exception. Check out their fashionable flying looks, below.

Rachel McAdams / Zendaya / LeAnn RimesBauer-Griffin; Pacific Coast News; C. Adler/Broadi

The newly ombré McAdams seems to be getting into the holiday spirit with her red plaid blanket scarf, which she drapes over a chunky gray sweater, jeans and black boots at LAX. Not that we’re complaining, but we’re going to guess that the sweater, jeans and boots combo will be a repeat look among stars hitting the airport.

Zendaya smiles for the cameras in a army-green bomber jacket, cropped acid-wash jeans and a pair of Nike high-tops, topped with a black beanie. While Rimes, who seems to be shielding from the paps, stays casual in a red-and-black plaid Isabel Marant wool coat, which she pairs with black jeans, knee-high boots and oversized sunglasses.

In an attempt to lay low, Fanning arrives at LAX in a wide-brimmed fedora, black sweater, boyfriend jeans and sneaks. Even though the star is obviously trying to travel incognito, we’re totally loving her effortless “disguised” look.

Unlike our next jet-setting star, Kesha, who arrives at LAX in an all-black look with a silk blouse, high-waisted trousers and cut-out heeled sandals. Although we typically opt for a much cozier outfit when traveling, we can admire her commitment to turning the jetway into a runway. (We think.)

And finally, Johnson, who is once again rocking her brunette hue with bangs (probably because she’s filming the second installment of the Fifty Shades of Grey movies), wearing a black sweater, cuffed blue jeans and black boots at LAX in L.A. The actress’s easy-going look is exactly what we’d wear for a trip to the airport, which we’ll be making real soon.

Zendaya's Latest Material Girl Ads Are Here: 'Madonna Knows Who I Am, That's All I Need!'

Zendaya is unapologetic when it comes making bold style choices. (Here’s photo proof.) So it’s no surprise Madonna (no stranger to major style moments herself) tapped the 18-year-old star as the latest face of her Material Girl junior’s line, which she founded with her daughter Lourdes. Zendaya stars in her second campaign for the label, and we have an exclusive first look below!

Shot at the famed Bleecker Street Records store in N.Y.C., the singer/actress danced on set to hits by Madonna and Michael Jackson while wearing new pieces from the spring collection — named “Record Riot” — including apparel from the brand’s new Active line.

“Shooting this campaign was so much fun! I love the new Material Girl collection, it’s all about bold pieces that you can mix and match,” Zendaya said in a statement. “All of the looks are girlie with a little bit of tough edge to it — very much like my own style!”

The stylish star joins former Material Girl faces Kelly Osbourne, Georgia May Jagger and Rita Ora, all celebs who aren’t afraid to take fashion risks.

“I am very excited to be working with Madonna and Lola again and continuing to work with them for another season — it has been fantastic so far,” she said. “I think Madonna is one of the biggest influencers the world has every seen, in fashion. She created a style. If anyone were to do that nowadays, it’s like ‘No, that’s Madonna.'”

As for the fashion icon herself, Madonna hand-picked the young star for her always-evolving style and ability to take risks in the name of fashion. “Zendaya personifies the Material Girl — she loves to have fun and is constantly experimenting with trends,” Madonna and Lola said in a statement. “Her daring personal style and high energy made her the perfect face for our new collection.”

But then again, who wouldn’t want to work with Madonna? Zendaya is beyond elated to continue her role with the icon.

“First of all Madonna knows who I am, check. Bucket list, I’m over. That’s all I need,” she said. “When Madonna Instagrammed a picture of me I think I died, came back to life again, then I had a party, and then I died again, came back again, went to heaven, said hello to everybody, came back down and here I am. It was crazy, it was awesome.”

Some stars always keep us guessing on the red carpet, and never more so than at the Grammys. For example, Madonna dressed as a matador. Katy Perry showed off her new lavender locks. And of course, Zendaya brought her own wild style, including a cute new pixie.

The 18-year-old actress-slash-singer topped a striped, high-slit Vivienne Westwood gown with bold brows, a vampy lip, a sparkling ear cuff and, of course, her choppy, super-short new do.

Zendaya loves to rock wild new dos from one red carpet to another, so we don’t know that this is more than a one-night-only look(and in fact, she confirmed it in the press room, saying that K.C. Undercover requires her to have long hair, but she wanted to rock a short do for the evening). “My haircut is not real,” she said. “I get to take this off and still have my hair!”

But tell us: Do you think she should stick with it?

Zoë Kravitz on Zendaya Hair Controversy: Black Women Shouldn't Have to Change the Way They Look for Fashion

Zoë Kravitz stars as the fierce and proud Christina in the upcoming film Insurgent, and it appears the actress has a lot in common with her character.

Zoe Kravitz dreadlocksMediaPunch/Rex

The actress (and daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz) was at Wall Miami last night to promote her Ocean Drive Magazine cover, on which she models long braids, and she had strong thoughts about the recent controversy regarding Zendaya’s similar style on the Oscars red carpet. (To recap: Giuliana Rancic said she looked like she smelled of “patchouli oil and weed” on E!’s Fashion Police, Zendaya responded on Twitter, and dozens of celebrities came out in support. Oh, and Kelly Osbourne quit.)

Kravitz’s take? “Black women have been wearing their hair like this forever and I think it’s really sad that it’s even a conversation that we all need to be having,” she said. “I don’t know if we’re all supposed to have short hair or straight hair … This is the way we are.”

RELATED PHOTOS: Every star hair makeover you must see (and vote on!)

Of Rancic, the 25-year-old (who attended the Vanity Fair Oscars party with her mom, both looking super-chic in glam dresses and similar hairstyles) said, “[She] can just keep her opinions to herself or not get it. It’s not my problem.”

Does she think the uproar caused the style to be looked at in another light? “I think it’s just about black women being able to be who they are and people are getting that or not getting that,” she said. “But I don’t think we should have to change the way we look at all, depending on what’s in fashion.”

The star (and lead singer of the band Lolawolf) also chatted about her friend and costar Shailene Woodley and the difference between their offscreen and onscreen relationships. While Kravitz’s character was Woodley’s protector in the first Divergent film, Kravitz says that in real life, “Shailene’s a badass, she doesn’t need anyone else to protect her!” And as the new film sees both women get stronger, so does their real-life bond. “I think we protect each other, that’s what girlfriends have to do for each other,” she said.

Do you agree with Kravitz? Are you excited for the next movie?

Doing Some Spring Shopping This Week? Pick Up These Affordable Pieces From Emma, Vanessa and More Stars!

Having great style doesn’t have to come with a high price tag. And some of our favorite stars prove (over and over again) that you can still look fab without dropping serious cash. So to make that point, each Wednesday we’ll be featuring the best celeb style finds of the week (all under $150) that we think should be added to your virtual cart — stat.

Emma Stone, Emmy Rossum, Vanessa HudgensAKM-GSI (2); Christopher Peterson/Splash News

When it comes to street style, Emma Stone sets the bar. She nailed that stylish-yet-laidback look long before it was a “thing.” Which brings us to her latest outfit: a simple white tank topped with a dark-wash denim jacket, a pair of printed yellow pants and her favorite Joie “Sable” sandals ($125). She completed the look with an equally cute (and super-practical) Madewell “McCarren” tote, which you can add to your closet for $140.50.

Since spring is finally in bloom, may we recommend celebrating with a flowery print? We know florals for spring aren’t exactly groundbreaking (you know the movie reference), but on a ladylike midi skirt like Emmy Rossum’s Boden “Pandora” number, they feel very of-the-moment. For 100 percent silk, the $148 price tag is worth every penny.

If you’ve been counting down the days ’til it’s warm enough to bust out your crop top selection, perhaps Vanessa Hudgens will convince you to wait no longer. The Gigi star found the Goldilocks of transitional pieces, a just-rihgt long-sleeved black-and-white striped Michael Stars crop top for $88. Just add a lightweight trench and a long skirt, and you won’t be too hot or cold.

Lily Collins, Victoria Justice, ZendayaPhotographer Group/Splash News; Diabolik / Splash News; Chris Weeks/GC Images

Behold: Lily Collins in the dress you’ll want to live in all season. From its clean hue to its light, airy material, the Somedays Lovin “Concho River” linen dress ($99 at Urban Outfitters) goes with everything from a cardigan to a leather jacket. Although Collins teamed oxfords with her dress, sandals or boots will look just as cute.

Looks like Victoria Justice is getting ready for next year’s Coachella a little early — kidding! The star channeled her inner bohemian in flowy graphic pants, a mint-green scalloped tank and some black-and-white platform sandals during a recent trip to the flea market. To finish off her hippie-esque ensemble, she accessorized with a fringed bag, a floppy hat and a pair of Quay “Chelsea Girl” sunglasses ($50), which really pulled everything together. Don’t you think?

And finally, if you’re on the hunt for workout wardrobe inspiration, Zendaya is here to help. The singer/actress kept things cool and casual in a pair of fitted track pants, a high-low white tank and a sporty pair of Puma Pulse XT Geo Cross-Trainers. Add more spring to your step by scooping ’em up for $70 — no gym trip necessary.

Zendaya on Embracing High Heels: 'Might as Well Be as Tall as Possible and Look Good Doing It!'

Zendaya is just like any other 18-year-old. She loves spending time with her friends (who happen to include Taylor Swift and the rest of the “Bad Blood” squad). She goes to prom (okay, Fashion Prom). And she has an after school job (she’s the face of Madonna’s Material Girl junior’s line). We caught up with the incredibly busy teen at her latest Material Girl appearance to find out all about her one-of-a-kind style.

Zendaya Material GirlMaterial Girl

“Material Girl is definitely a brand that is all about adding your own personal style to things, and I love that,” she told PEOPLE about the line created by Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes (both fashion — and hair color — risk-takers).

The star never shies away from adding her own signature flair to outfits and maintains she doesn’t have any regrets. “I don’t have a least favorite [look], because everything I wore at the time I liked, and it’s all a part of my style evolution,” she said. “My identity is to be a little bit of everything and to experiment with lots of different looks.” (Looks that are often inspired by #OOTD posts on Instagram and Tumblr.)

One constant in her closet? Sky-high heels. She may be 5-ft.-10-in., but Zendaya never met a stiletto she didn’t like. “I always tell my fans that people are going to comment on your height regardless, so you might as well be as tall as possible and look good doing it!”

Zendaya Material GirlMaterial Girl

And of course we had to ask her about her very first Met Gala she attended earlier this month. She wore a custom Fausto Puglisi sun-motif dress which took some serious planning — she started seeing sketches a month in advance. “I had only two fittings,” she shared. “I liked the fact that it was mature and fit the theme but didn’t lose the fun, fresh youthfulness that I wanted it to have.”

Describing her experience she said, “Going to the Met Ball was a night to remember, overwhelming but in the best kind of way.”

BET Awards 2015: Zendaya Addresses Hair Haters, Looks Amazing - Get All the Scoop!

The BET Awards are always unpredictable, but we knew one thing for sure: Zendaya Coleman, 18, was going to be doing her usual style chameleon thing — and looking impeccable while she did it. She didn’t disappoint, hitting the red carpet in a sparkling shirtdress, silver sandals and a chic, soft pixie — plus a glam face of makeup to go with. Below, we got the beauty breakdown from her pro, Allan Avendaño for the Sephora Collection.

Zendaya BET Awards Getty

“I took a glimpse of Zendaya’s shimmering dress tonight and knew I wanted to go for pastel shades and golden skin,” Avendaño tells PEOPLE. “We kept her makeup soft and used pastel shades to complement the jewel tones of her dress and drastic hair style. Her final look reminded me of a ‘fierce fairy princess.'”

And though Zendaya is an easy client, that doesn’t mean her look was simple. “Zendaya is a huge fan of makeup so we work together to create the overall look, which ended up being a focus on contoured cheeks, defined eyebrows and soft pastel eyeshadows that matched her dress,” he says, adding that, for those at home giving the look at home a shot, “The trickiest element to Zendaya’s look was the contouring. The key to pulling this off is to make sure to blend all your lines together.” (His top products? This Sephora palette and blending brush.)

RELATED PHOTOS: The best dresses to wear to every wedding!

Also top of his list for attaining her “ethereal, golden and fierce” look: This contouring highlight/lowlight stick and Sephora Collection eyeshadows in “Sweet Candy,” “Purple Stilettos,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Fairy Princess.”

Though people apparently found Zendaya’s hair controversial (at least, according to her Tweet), it was the basis for her whole beauty look. “The hair definitely inspired the overall makeup look. Zendaya’s short pixie cut influenced how deep we wanted to go with her contour and how soft we went with her eyeshadow and lip shades,” Avendaño says. “Since she chose a strong hairstyle and her dress was glitzy, we went with a soft eye and lip look so as not to overpower the overall look.”

And it’s not like she’s going to let anyone stop her from doing whatever she wants on the red carpet (which makes her one of our favorite starlets to watch): “Zendaya is really open to everything. She always chooses bold fashion and beauty looks on the red carpet, so it’s fun to collaborate with her while getting ready for big events.”

(Further proof? Just check out this video of her taking her wig off in full diva style at the end of the night.)

BET Awards 2015Courtesy

And though we’d expect the former star of Shake It Up to have tunes on at all times, Avendaño says their prep-time entertainment came from a more surprising source. “We actually didn’t have any music playing while we were getting ready! Zendaya’s hilarious father Kazembe is the ultimate source of entertainment and always keeps us laughing when we get ready for events,” Avendaño reveals. “We turned on the TV before Zendaya left and channel surfed until we landed on The Fabulous Life of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Watching Beyoncé’s red carpet looks really made Zendaya excited for the night!”

Zendaya Designs a Line of 'Dope Shoes -- and You Don't Have to Spend Three Years Trying to Buy Them'

Within the last couple of years, Zendaya has grown from sweet Disney starlet to quintessential red-carpet risk taker. (Who else could pull off a dazzling diamond-adorned shirtdress with matching sparkling stilettos quite like her?) And now, the actress is taking her love of fashion to the next level: with her very own shoe line!

Zendaya shoe lineCourtesy Daya

The collection, named Daya (which was the star’s childhood nickname), is a collaboration between the 18-year-old star and her stylist, Law Roach. Together, the duo created a line of sky-high heels, fringed flats, summery sandals and sporty wedge sneakers, which will range in prices from $125 to $175, inspired by the star’s personal red-carpet style and the women in her life.

“I was inspired by everyday women,” she tells PEOPLE. “And I was inspired a lot by my niece — she’s in college — and my sister, who’s a working woman with two kids and a husband. I constantly ask them how do they find stuff, how much would they pay for a good shoe and what they are looking for [in a shoe].”

Zendaya shoe lineCourtesy Daya

And while it’s clear that the line is very true to the star’s standout style, Zendaya says her top priority was to make her shoes easily accessible (and affordable!) for all women.

“The kind of women we’re targeting are real women [who] want a good shoe they can wear to their job interviews, but still be stylish and not break the bank,” she says. “But it’s not like that typical look for less. No, these are dope shoes and you don’t have to spend three years trying to buy them.”

RELATED PHOTOS: Star Designers You Must Know

So what’s her favorite pair? “That’s impossible; I will not answer that question! But I will say that every shoe is definitely infused with [our aesthetic],” she tells PEOPLE. “I’m not a big fan of flats, I’ve never been a big fan of sandals, and so it was kind of like, ‘How do I make a version that I would wear on the red carpet, that I think is chic?’ ”

Zendaya shoe lineCourtesy Daya

Zendaya, who’s 5 ft. 10 in., says that she and Roach hope to inspire other women to embrace their height (no matter what it is) and wear styles they feel most comfortable in.

“That’s part of our platform,” Roach tells PEOPLE. “For girls who think, ‘I can’t wear heels, I’m tall,’ you can wear heels! It makes you look even more amazing. [Zendaya] will see a tall girl walking down the street and run over and give her a high five and be like, Yes, a tall girl wearing heels!”

Instagram Photo

But whether or not she convinces you to step into some sky-high stilettos, Zendaya says you’ll find something you love (in a color you might not have guessed) in her collection. “A lot of women are like me — it’s either sneakers or it’s heels, there’s no in between,” she says. “I’m a tomboy, so there are a lot of times where I want to have that tomboy edge and feminize it.”

She adds: “I want to give every kind of woman an option. You have your simple work shoe, you have your summer wedge. Not every girl wants to wear heels; sometimes wedges are more sturdy. You have everything. Everything for every lady out there.” (As long as that lady’s willing to wait until spring 2016, when the collection launches.)

Zendaya on Her Risk-Taking Red Carpet Style: 'I'm Not Dressing to Impress Anybody But Myself'

Zendaya may only be 19, but she’s quickly become one of our favorites to watch on the red carpet thanks to her risk-taking style. We caught up with the star and her stylist Law Roach to hear all about her fun fashion philosophy. Read on — and check out the 9/21 issue of People (on newsstands now) for more about the next-generation of style stars.

Zendaya Met Gala red carpetGetty

The star is sure of her style now, but that confidence didn’t come over night. “I really thank Law for helping me become more comfortable in my skin and not care so much,” Zendaya tells People. “At some point in your life — in everybody’s life — you’ve got to realize you’re living for yourself, and you’re not living for the opinions of other people.” She continued on her new-found fashion philosophy: “I’m not dressing to impress anybody but myself.”

She also applies that same mentality to her beauty look. “If we’re having fun, I get to try on 80 different hairstyles, I can do anything with my makeup and my wardrobe,” she says. “When you get to a point where people expect you to do anything you want, it’s very liberating.”

RELATED PHOTOS: 10 Ways to Wear Ripped Jeans and Heels for (Almost) Every Occasion

Which is probably why her stylist’s favorite look on the star is one she paired with an extra-large accessory. “One of my favorite [looks] is when she wore Armani to the Teen Vogue Young Hollywood party with the big hat,” Roach tells People.

And according to Zendaya, adding bold accessories (like her Pharrell Williams-inspired topper), is usually a last-minute decision between her and Roach — and it always ends in the two having a blast together. “That was one of those things where some people were going to get it, and some people weren’t — we let [them] figure it out,” she says. “It was just a moment. It’s fun.”

But away from the cameras, Zendaya’s everyday style is far from glitz and glam, she says. Her off-duty style is all about comfort. “Outside of the red carpet, I’m very simple,” she says. “I alternate four different things: I have ripped boyfriend jeans, plain white and grey T-shirts, a bomber jacket and clean, fresh shoes.”

She adds that no matter what she’s wearing, her shoes will always take center stage, which is why she and Roach teamed up to design a new footwear collection called Daya (her childhood nickname). “I just don’t have time [to dress up], but I still want to be chic and dope, so my shoes are always like a statement piece for me. When I get to wear chill outfits, I’m going to have fly sneakers or the dopest heels. That’s the statement, that’s the focal point.”

We all know that fashion, like the flu, can be contagious — just check out our Celeb Style Déja Vu gallery. But while shoes and bags are universally flattering, it takes a really special dress to show up on not one, not two, but four very different (and very stylish!) stars.

What’s especially fun about this L’Agence striped maxi? It has been seen in four very different places, from the red carpet to Coachella. Jessica Simpson is the latest star to step out in the $295 “Alani” style while leaving her hotel in N.Y.C. during Fashion Week. She wore it with her favorite accessories: oversized sunnies, a large tote and some stacked heels.

Nia Long also wore the piece with major shoes, though she added a crossbody to hers for a relaxed weekend look while out in L.A. Zendaya gave the dress a sultry twist for the red carpet by showcasing a pair of cutout boots under the dress’s slit, and adding a little shine via her bracelets and hoops. And finally, Jamie Chung showed how to style it for the desert with her Coachella-appropriate statement necklace and chunky flatforms.

These stars all have significantly different personal style, which means that this might just be the most versatile dress of all time.

Whitney Port Responds to Critics After Receiving Negative Comments on Her Makeup-Free Selfies

Whitney Port won’t be cyber-bullied! The former The Hills star responded to recent criticisms regarding her makeup-free moments on Instagram with a rather long post — because she wants her “haters” to know that she doesn’t need their negativity.

Whitney Port makeup-free rantCourtesy Whitney Port

Port posted a bare-faced snapshot of herself Tuesday night, along with an extra-long caption, to explain why she much prefers going sans makeup these days — even if she looks “dead” or “ghostly.”

“Hi guys. So I don’t want to come off as preachy AT ALL! But lately, when I post a pic of myself without makeup on @instagram, people hate — telling me I look dead or anemic or whatever! Over it!,” she confessed in a caption on Instagram. “I struggled with my skin A LOT growing up. I had terrible acne throughout high school and college and finally got it under control in my mid 20’s. I’ve learned that keeping it healthy and clear is mostly due to keeping it clean.”

The 30-year-old star adds that she’ll continue to skip the cosmetics, regardless of what anyone thinks, and urges others to do the same.

“I TRULY think the key to inner and outer beauty isn’t about all the things we can buy to cover up our skin but how we can embrace our skin and keep it healthy. Clean skin is in. The more I keep it clean, the better condition it’s in,” Port explained. “And when you do decide to put a little makeup on ( I mean, we all do 😊 ) our skin is a pure foundation for it to live on! So goodbye haters! I’m gonna embrace my bare, colorless, pale and ghostly skin because I don’t need to hide behind anything. I urge all you out there to not be afraid of showing that beautiful, bare face of yours to the world. Join me and tag all your clean skin selfies using the hashtag #OurCleanSkinIsIn Let’s do this!!!”

Port isn’t the only star who’s shared her thoughts on going makeup-free on social media. In June, Zendaya shared a similar video on Instagram to remind her followers that wearing makeup — or no makeup — is beautiful.

Instagram Photo

“Not trying to have a preach moment, but it should not be a phenomenon if a girl decides to — or not to — wear makeup,” the 19-year-old star said in an Instagram video. “If you want to beat that face, then beat it down. If you want to go natural, then go natural. Do you, boo boo. Be happy.”

Describing her natural hair as “fine” and “not as curly as it once was,” the star admits she had major hair damage after years of constant styling. And now, she’s super particular about her regimen.

“I use CHI’s Argan oil line — I like that is has moisture in it. And then I have a specific routine to make my curls look more defined when I wear them natural.” Her one-two punch:  The brand’s “amazing blow dryer” with a diffuser attachment and “the styling crème gel that helps me crunch my curls up.”

As for what style the star is dying to try next, she’s leaning toward hopping on the color bandwagon, “I feel like I’ve pretty much tried everything — the next step for me is different colors maybe. But that’s definitely a wig thing; I’ve never colored my hair and I don’t plan on it, so there probably will be a lot of wigs.”

Zendaya Wears 7 Bold Looks During One Weekend in Paris

Zendaya has said that she only dresses to impress herself, but her parade of outfits at Paris Fashion Week this weekend has everyone talking (and wondering how much luggage she had to bring on the plane).

At Sunday’s Buro 24/7 Family Presentation, the 19-year-old star selected a bright blue plunging fringe top and high-slit skirt (both Tamara Mellon). The look was a complete style 180 from the outfit she wore earlier in the day to the Kenzo show — a bold printed button-down trench with a pair of mixed-print pants, plus, one of her favorite hair looks — a chic pixie.

On Saturday, she went for “cornrows and designer clothes,” sitting front row at the Emanuel Ungaro show in a sequin mini embellished with floral appliqués and a matching bomber jacket. She accessorized with oversize crytstal earrings and sleek black pumps.

Earlier in the day she was seen wearing the campus chic fall trend in a pleated gray sweater dress, matching coat (both Lacoste), patent leather, bow-embellished boots and a black backpack.

For Friday’s Vivienne Westwood Gold Label show, the star wore a look straight off the spring/summer 2016 runway. The label’s hand embroidered “fig dress” features a metallic mini with an attached skirt (that reminds editors a little bit of a picnic cloth). For the afterparty, she went more casual in a gray jumpsuit, metallic gold belt and matching Giuseppe Zanotti pumps.

And if you thought her style couldn’t get anymore daring, please see the white Katherine Mavridis dress she wore for Vogue Paris’ 95th anniversary party with matching white Jimmy Choo pumps. (It’s the woutfit to end all woutfits.)

Where does Zendaya find her fashion confidence? She has a lot of help from her daring stylist, Law Roach.

“I really thank Law for helping me become more comfortable in my skin and not care so much,” Zendaya told PEOPLE in September. “At some point in your life — in everybody’s life — you’ve got to realize you’re living for yourself, and you’re not living for the opinions of other people. I’m not dressing to impress anybody but myself.”

She also applies that same mantra to her beauty look. “If we’re having fun, I get to try on 80 different hairstyles, I can do anything with my makeup and my wardrobe,” she shared. “When you get to a point where people expect you to do anything you want, it’s very liberating.”

Zendaya has solidified herself as one of Hollywood’s most unapologetic style and beauty chameleons. And she’s only 19. The star is always experimenting with her look and inspiring fans with her confidence and real talk. Mane Addicts just celebrated that, naming her their latest mane muse with a gorgeous new shoot.

Zendaya collaborated with hairstylist Larry Sims on the project that “felt like going through different decades of beauty,” according to the pro.

“Zendaya is fearless,” Sims said. “She’s a creator’s dream.”

For one of their boldest looks (above), Sims “wanted to do a twist on what an afro looks like…[and Zendaya] is a perfect canvas,” he shared. “She allows you to just go for it and when you think you’ve gone too far, she pushed you to go further. In this business it’s hard to stay inspired. I just feel so lucky to have such a creative muse who trusts my vision.”

In another shot, the pair drew inspiration from ’80s supermodels and icons like Diana Ross and Brooke Shields.

“We used two wigs,” Sims said about the look below. “I cut into them both a bit to shape, then secured them with pins. I used color spray in Zendaya’s hair to blend them with the wigs. We teased it with the height and just went there. Threw a little wind on it and it was good to go.”

But the star’s favorite look of the day was the fade, because it was a style she’s never tried before.

“Trying new things [is when I feel most confident],” she told Mane Addicts. “I love doing something that people haven’t seen in a certain setting.”

Zendaya added that she draws inspiration from pop culture icons. “I love people who take risks and do their own thing, [like] Erykah Badu because she is effortlessly amazing, or Janet [Jackson] for sure]. I think we all want to channel our inner Janet.”

And she encourages her fans to push the envelope too. “With beauty and fashion, I think everyone should just try to create their own,” she said. “Don’t try to fit into a mold that doesn’t exist. We each have our own form of beauty, and that’s really special.”

Zendaya is known for putting haters in their place (especially hair haters) and has fully embraced her own style aesthetic (her fashion philosophy will be your new getting-ready mantra). Now, she’s shutting down photoshop fails. She just released an unretouched photo from a recent magazine shoot on Instagram after realizing her “19-year-old hips and torso” were “misrepresented.”

ZendayaDaniel Robertson/Startraks

The star posed in a belted moto jacket and black briefs for Modeliste Magazine, but said as soon as she saw the shots she was “shocked” to find her hips manipulated to half their original size. She wrote, “These are the things that make women self conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have.”

Instagram Photo

She elaborated saying she’s not the type of person to stand for manipulation, “Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it😍😘”

In addition to (basically) winning Instagram, the star recently posed in another photo shoot where she tried out iconic hairstyles from every decade for her Mane Addicts muse debut. At the time she said, “Trying new things [is when I feel most confident]. I love doing something that people haven’t seen in a certain setting.”

The same can be said about her killer red carpet style and makeup looks. “When you get to a point where people expect you to do anything you want, it’s very liberating,” she shared with PeopleStyle.

She went on to explain that real confidence comes from being comfortable in your own skin. “At some point in your life — in everybody’s life– you’ve got to realize you’re living for yourself, and you’re not living for the opinions of other people. I’m not dressing to impress anybody but myself.” Just check out her outfit she wore out and about Tuesday night in L.A. — she sported a shiny wide-leg trouser with a strapless bandeau bodice with sparkly diamond drop earrings.

Red carpet risk-taker Zendaya wowed in black silk two-piece — a plunging off-the-shoulder bustier and a pair of high-waisted trousers — at the CFDA’s Vogue Fashion Fund dinner on Wednesday evening. The 19-year-old added a pair of dazzling diamond earrings to round out the chic ensemble.

On the same day, Uma Thurman stepped out in a sexy jewel-toned custom midi dress with a criss-cross halter neckline to the premiere of her new film, Burnt, in N.Y.C. She accessorized the look with a pretty pink lip, sparkling Chopard jewels and strappy camel-colored sandals.

Kristen Wiig selected a look similar to Zendaya’s two-piece ensemble — a blush pink matching set, complete with a strapless bustier and high-waisted trousers, worn to the Nasty Baby premiere in L.A. It was a totally unexpected style move from the star, but we love how she took a risk!

And rounding out our list of stars in Brandon Maxwell is Paltrow, who was the first celeb to sport the designer’s garbs in early October. The actress opted for a cream-colored “Wave” blouse with voluminous sleeves and a high-slit pencil skirt to the Variety “Power of Women” luncheon in L.A. She paired the look with her signature center-parted hair style, a sultry smoky eye and nude patent leather pumps.

New Photos Show Side by Side of Zendaya's Original and Retouched Photos

Earlier this month Zendaya took to Instagram to blast Modeliste Magazine for sharing retouched images from her cover shoot.

Now, the photos are in —and while some are more manipulated than others — the pictures show clear differences in the before (left) and after (right) shots.

In one of the pics, a face shot of the actress, saturation has been altered giving the colors in the photo a more rich appearance. Alterations to Zendaya’s face and hair have also been made, as highlights in her wavy tresses appear more prominent and a few blemishes have been erased.

Instagram Photo

The Disney Channel star originally aired her frustrations on social media, sharing a body shot from the photo shoot, saying that the magazine was contributing to “unrealistic beauty ideals.”

“Had a new shoot come out today and was shocked when I found my 19-year-old hips and torso quite manipulated,” Zendaya captioned the side by side before and after. “These are the things that make women self-conscious, that create the unrealistic ideals of beauty that we have.

“Anyone who knows who I am knows I stand for honest and pure self love. So I took it upon myself to release the real pic (right side) and I love it. Thank you Modeliste Magazine for pulling down the images and fixing this retouch issue.”

Zendaya on Giuliana Rancic's Oscars Dreadlocks Comment: 'It Was a Learning Experience for Everyone'

It’s been quite the year for Zendaya. She’s topped our Red Carpet Risk-Takers list, she designed her first-ever footwear line and now, she’s front and center on Complex‘s “Women of Next Year” issue, where she opens up about Giuliana Rancic’s comments surrounding the star’s dreadlocks at 2015 Oscars.

On an episode of Fashion Police following the Oscars red carpet, the TV host joked that Zendaya’s hair “must smell of patchouli oil or weed,” which prompted the actress to react with a eloquent message on Instagram.

“It was a learning experience for myself and for everyone who read it,” the 19-year-old told Complex. “A lot of people don’t realize that hair is a big thing for a lot of people, not just African-American women. It’s something to be aware of and to be cautious of.”

Zendaya added that Rancic’s “joke” surrounding her hair not only affected her but other women — no matter how they choose to wear their hair. “So it was something that I really felt like I should speak on. There were so many women, of all races, that came up to me and were like, ‘I really love what you said,’ or ‘I had my daughter read that.'”

Zendaya December/January 2016 Complex magazineCourtesy Complex

But as Zendaya explains, one of the main reasons she decided to speak out against Rancic’s red carpet comments came from a personal, familial place.

“All my brothers and my dad at one point had dreadlocks,” she told the mag. “My little nieces have curly hair. And if they were to have someone say something demeaning about what they have and what they hold dear to them, then I would want them to at least have the pride within themselves to come up with a response that made sense and that they were proud of.”

The starlet says it was important for her to set an example for future generations. “Honestly, I think about my little nieces and my little nephews first. Because one day they’re going to have Twitter and they’re going to have Instagram, and I’m going to be like, ‘This is how you handle it, kids.'”

With that kind of attitude, Zendaya exudes maturity and grace, which is why many young women look up to the star as a modern day role model. But the 19-year-old takes doesn’t take her newfound role too seriously.

“I think it’s a responsibility, but like Tupac Shakur, ‘I’m a real model.’ Which means: I’m not pretending to be something that I’m not, because like he said, people are going to be disappointed when they find out who you are, because it’s not going to be what you presented to the world,” she said. “So just keep it real. I’m a good kid and that’s all.”

If you’ve always wanted to see Zendaya surfing through outer space, you’re in luck — in Saturday’s Love advent calendar video, she’s doing just that. And as a bonus, we’ve got weekend videos, featuring Hailey Baldwin and Lucky Blue Smith, as well.

Zendaya Love MagazineDoug Inglish/Love

In a sea of laser beams and trippy ’90s computer screen savers, Zendaya appears dressed like a space-age disco queen, and spends her time floating, swimming, dancing and surfing through the universe to the sweet strains of Michael Jackson’s “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough.” Unlike the typical Love advent videos, however, she’s not flying solo. The actress is visited by aliens and butterflies, taking the video to new heights (so to speak).

But of course, with a new video every day this month, Zendaya isn’t the only star with appearances this weekend; Hailey Baldwin’s video on Monday shows her in a sexy lace bustier, unbuttoned jeans and hot pink lipstick, sending sweet smooches to the camera.

Last but not least, Love has enlisted a male into this year’s brigade — and if you’re looking for fun pool toy inspiration for next summer, Lucky Blue Smith’s video is full of that for you. He’s seen clad in butt-hugging denim cutoffs, swimming and jumping from toy to toy like a kid in a candy store — and, of course, giving a blow-up monkey a noogie.
